The commander of Sudan's Rapid Support Forces (RSF), Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, has held talks with the president of Djibouti, Ismaïl Omar Guelleh, to discuss ways to end the Sudanese war.
They were meeting as Djibouti chairs the East African bloc IGAD, which has been pushing to mediate peace talks in Sudan.

Djibouti's government ministers defend the tiny African country's rapid development, as China bankrolls major infrastructure projects, including transport links for key markets in neighbouring landlocked Ethiopia. Djibouti goes to the polls on 8 April, with President Ismail Omar Guelleh expected to win a fourth term.
Tigrayan forces in Ethiopia continue to seize key cities on their way to the capital city of Addis Ababa. Experts state that the forces are poised to seize the country's main trade route known as the Djibouti corridor.

Djibouti is facing its own problems with poverty in spite of large foreign investments in recent years, and now it is making an effort to welcome some 40,000 Yemenis who have moved there to escape the war at home.
The tiny Horn of Africa state of Djibouti is now home to more than 40,000 Yemenis who have fled their war-torn country.
In spite of Djibouti’s own economic struggle, the people and government are making a sincere effort to welcome these people and to consider them a group that could drive significant economic growth for the country.
The Yemeni refugees started in a camp, but have been registered and allowed to work and have since moved to the capital to earn a living.
