The African rain dances have been performed accompanied by other rituals such as prayers and sacrifices to the ancestors and/or gods.
In most parts of Southern Africa rain rituals were directed towards royal ancestors because they were believed to have control over rain and other natural phenomena.

The Emir's Palace in Kano state has a rich history.
Built more than 700 years ago, the palace is the oldest and largest traditional palace in. Nigeria. The grounds span 33 acres, guarded by walls that reach as high as 15 feet.
