Her Royal Majesty Obi Martha Dunkwu is the reigning omu of the Anioma people of Nigeria’s Delta State.

An omu, or queen mother, is a leader of women, custodian of the market, a spiritual guide to the community and the traditional ruler – a role that goes back more than 820 years and one that was greatly reduced by colonial rule. This important institution, with its ceremonial practices, comes with its own challenges but remains a significant part of holding communities together.

Chisom Ifeakandu is a Nigerian filmmaker who has worked on several film and TV productions. In 2016, she was one of 20 young African filmmakers to be sponsored by the Africa International Film Festival and the Ford Foundation to study at the Cinefabrique Film School in Lyon, France. She convened The African Way event to showcase young African theatre talent.

Nigerian Banga soup is a quick and delicious Niger-Delta style palm nut soup. It is very easy to make and packed full of flavour from the herbs and spices used in making it. You can have this soup from your kitchen to the table in 30 minutes, it is very similar to Ofe Akwu recipe (Ibo style) but they use different spices.

Ingredients
800 g palm fruit concentrate
1 tablespoon Banga spice you can buy a ready mix or simply make your own by blending Ataiko and Irugeje in a dry mill
1-2 tablespoons Beletete leaves
1 Oburunbebe stick
6 medium-size fresh catfish steak washed and gutted
2kg (4lb) cooked beef and assorted meat.
1 cup fresh shrimps
½ cup dried prawns
2-3 scotch bonnet blended
1 cup dried cod panla washed and shredded (optional)
1 cup periwinkle optional
2 Seasoning cubes or use as desired about 1 teaspoon stock powder

Latest Edo Bride Traditional Wedding Attire

In this video, we will take a closer look at the traditional wedding attire worn by an Edo bride in Nigeria. The Edo culture, also known as the Benin Kingdom, has a rich cultural heritage that is reflected in their traditional weddings. The bridal attire worn by an Edo bride is a beautiful representation of this cultural celebration.

One of the key features of an Edo bride's traditional wedding attire is the hand-beaded clothing. These intricate designs are created by skilled artisans and are a true representation of the African ethnic fashion. The hand-beaded clothing is not only beautiful but also holds significant cultural and symbolic meaning.

Edo traditional attire is not only worn by the bride but also by other members of the wedding party. The attire worn by the groom and other members of the wedding party is also hand-beaded and reflects the same cultural and symbolic meaning.

An Edo traditional wedding is a royal affair and the bridal attire worn by the bride is a reflection of this. The attire is made of the finest fabrics and is adorned with intricate beading and other traditional adornments. The bride's attire is also a symbol of the cultural preservation of the Edo people.

In this video, we will take a closer look at the traditional wedding attire worn by an Edo bride and explore the cultural and symbolic meaning behind the attire. We will also explore the traditional wedding customs of the Edo people and the role that traditional bridal attire plays in these customs. The video will also showcase the beauty and elegance of Nigerian bridal fashion and the importance of cultural preservation in African weddings.
