Documentary about the research of Czech herpetologists Václav Gvoždík and Matej Dolinay focused on frog evolution in Central Africa. In Cameroon there is an amazing diversity of species and some extraordinary frogs, such as the Goliath frog, the biggest frog with weight up to 3 kilograms.
THIS FILM WAS CREATED DURING THE WORK ON A RESEARCH PROJECT FUNDED BY THE CZECH SCIENCE FOUNDATION (PROJECT GACR No. 15-13415Y).

I was recently blessed to accompany one of my best friends, Ronnie Williams, on a hunting adventure of a lifetime to the rainforest of Cameroon.

He had booked the hunt with Northern Operations Africa and professional hunter Deon Van Der Westhuizen.

Our main focus was hunting Bongo. In Cameroon you hunt Bongo with the local Pygmy's and their hounds which makes for a very exciting and adrenalin filled experience! This along with the opportunity to see Gorillas in the wild and to hunt several Duiker species, Sitatunga, Dwarf Forest Buffalo and Bates's Pygmy antelope makes this a truly remarkable hunting adventure packed with loads of action and surprises around every bush, corner and vine! (Watch out for those vines that reach out and grab your leg when you least expect it!)

Conditions and the equatorial climate is not for everyone though. Stalking in the rainforest can be tough at the best of times and there is no such thing as escaping the humidity. Bugs are a plenty and be prepared to be bitten and stung by most things. This, in my opinion however is a big part of the experience and we soon learnt that if you want to take something from the rainforest, you have to be willing to give something back!

I did so with a smile on my face! Interacting with the local kids was a highlight and something that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

There is something very special about the rainforest that I can simply not explain. This is Gods' place, is the closest I can come to try and explain how it felt being there...

We were very blessed and had a very successful hunt along with some great memories and friendships made along the way.

Waza National Park was initially formed as a hunting reserve in 1934. Later, in 1968, it was made a national park, and in 1979, a UNESCO biosphere reserve. The Waza National Park has a surface area of 17,000 square kilometers and is known for its Sahel and savannah vegetation.

Waza National Park is one of the most significant parks in Africa and the most famous wildlife park in Cameroon's capital city. It is also the only park where you can observe endangered creatures.

Waza National Park is reportedly the most stunning and spectacular wildlife refuge in West Africa.
It's also one of the ten parks and reserves where the big five lions, elephants, rhinoceroses, leopards, and buffaloes can be found, which Cameroon takes great pride in. This Park contains one of Africa's best-preserved rainforest portions

Poultry farming is an important economic activity for many small-scale producers in Burkina Faso, however, farmers' flocks are constantly threatened by preventable diseases like Newcastle Disease, which can kill up to 90% of unvaccinated chickens.

In 2016, GALVmed partnered with the animal health company LAPROVET to initiate a project in Burkina Faso to vaccinate village poultry against Newcastle Disease. The project has raised awareness about the disease and facilitated training, access and adoption of vaccines.
