Off the West Cost of Africa, about 5 hours from our base in the UK, lies the tiny Archipelago nation of Cape Verde, one of Europe's last hidden diving gems.

Very few people visit Cape Verde every year, and even fewer dive while there. But dive under the waves, and the curious diver will find an amazing abundance of marine life not commonly associated with the temperate Atlantic waters.

Big, reef and macro are all present with pelagic like Sand Tiger Sharks, Nurse Sharks and Manta rays being common sightings. The reef is reminiscent of something out of Asia with gorgeous Butterfly Fish, Angel Fish, Parrot and Damsel Fish all calling the local sites their home. For those with a keen eye, Dragon Moray, Arrow Crabs, and an abundance of Nudi Branchs are waiting to be discovered.

Even for seasoned divers like ourselves, we can highly recommend Cape Verde as a dive spot.

Si Ma Bo are based in Sao Vicente, Cape Verde, and run an extensive spay and neuter campaign, shelter the sick and injured and place them in safe loving homes.
They are in desperte need of funds.

The city of Mindelo on the island of São Vicente is home to many street dogs. Their living conditions aren't good and this has consequences on public health.

Si Ma Bo is an organisation that tackles this problem by implementing a variety of actions. They organise free castration campaigns in isolated areas, they have a shelter for wounded and abandoned dogs, as well as a clinic that provides emergency and preventive care at affordable prices. Si Ma Bo also intervenes in schools to educate younger generations how to treat and care for animals.The organisation is partially funded by the EU, and also runs a hostel to cover its day-to-day expenses.

Associação Bons Amigos is a non profit organization in the the country of Cape Verde located on the west coast of Africa. The documentary was filmed on location in the capital of Cape Verde, Praia.


This animal shelter documentary details the daily activities of a non profit organization and its existence and practice of helping stray animals, both cats and dogs, and domesticated animals as well.
