As nations go, Tanzania is in its infancy. It was born in April 1964 of a union of Tanganyika, a former British colony, and Zanzibar, tiny islands off the East Coast of Africa which were formerly Arab dominated. This program explores many of the problems facing this struggling nation - poverty, sickness, education, and lack of trained manpower. Beyond this, the program focuses on Tanzania's policy of non-alignment in the Cold War and its willing acceptance of foreign aid from both Free World and Communist Bloc countries.

In this special short video - I went to a town in Tanzania called, Karatu. This town is where a large portion of this unique tribe of Tanzania stays. The Tribe is called Iraqw. What make this tribe so unique is their African Genetics that make up this special group of people.

Their Genetics/Ancestors are Ethiopian & Somalian Mix. As the story goes they originated from Ethiopia in the Oromo Region & a large group of the people traveled south to Somalia living there for a few hundreds of years then later going to Tanzania & settling there.

There is more to this special story & union between Somalia & Ethiopia & Most of All The people of Iraqw. The Iraqw Tribe understands where their Ancestors come from but Love there Tanzanian home & there own Traditions & Cultures they made for themselves. Enjoy this short video learning a bit about The IRAQW. This is TANZANIA, This is AFRICA.

Mwalimu Julius Nyere. Nyerere was the first prime minister of independent Tanganyika (1961), who later became the first president of the new state of Tanzania (1964) after the merging of tanganyika and zanzibar.

Julius Nyerere is also known as one of the main thinkers and creators of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), together with Kwame Nkrumah and both of them were the major force behind the formation of Organization of African Unity (now the African Union).

In this video we look at the life-story of one of Africa’s most formidable forces. Mwalimu Julius Nyerere.

Investigations are already underway after the authorities announced on Tuesday that the wreckage of a plane that crashed in Lake Victoria on Sunday has been pulled out of the water. The accident, the deadliest in decades, killed 19 people and occurred in the northwestern city of Bukoba.
The private carrier, from Tanzania's largest private carrier company Precision Air, carried 43 people on board. Police blamed bad weather for the accident amid questions about the government's handling of the rescue effort.

In October 1978, a brutal war broke out between the nations of Uganda and Tanzania. This war commonly referred to as the Kagera War or the Uganda-Tanzania War of 1978-9 was a landmark event in postcolonial East African history…

Rooted in a deep rivalry between Idi Amin of Uganda and Julius Nyerere of Tanzania, the conflict provoked bitter exchanges at the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), contributed to the failure of Tanzania’s economy, and brought an end to eight years of Amin’s brutal dictatorship in Uganda…

Tanzania became an independent country in the 1960s when Tanganyika and Zanzibar united to become the Republic of Tanzania. Since then, the country has had a complicated and challenging development history. Julius Nyerere's 'Ujamaa' program damaged the country's agricultural sector, and the economy has struggled to recover from the devastation it experienced under the state-centered policies of African socialism.

Nevertheless, things seem to be changing. Over the past few decades, GDP per capita has improved significantly in Tanzania, and the country has a lot of positive signs that may indicate it is poised to be East Africa's next economic powerhouse! However, to get there, there are challenges that must be addressed. Watch this video if you want to learn about Tanzania's history, economy, as well as its potential for its future growth.

Thank you to the Fraser Institute for their research, which provided the foundation for several parts of this video.
