Chairman for the World Pension Summit, Harry Smorenberg, has said that Africa has the potentials of leapfrogging the developments taking place in other countries.
Smorenberg, who was speaking on Channels Television's Sunrise Daily on Monday on the commencement of the World Pension Summit for Africa holding in Abuja, said that by learning and sharing best practices, Africa can set a new pace by being a leader in social security and pension market development in the nearer future.
"The agenda for the pension market development for Africa is challenging and this is the first step where we provide a platform where we can exchange truly, expertise from not mainly African countries but also from outside Africa because in my view, Africa can really leapfrog on the development taking place in other countries."

'Catastrophic Somalia Floods Kill 53 And Leaves Over 1.7 Million In Need'.
At least 53 people have died after catastrophic flooding has devastated parts of Somali.
Flooding has displaced at least 700,000 people, and disrupted the lives of more than 1.3 million in total.
It’s the latest blow to Somalia, which is just emerging from it’s worst drought in four decades.
The floods have wreaked havoc on crops and livelihoods as well as civilian infrastructure.
The torrential rainfall is linked to the El Nino weather phenomenon, which is expected to last until April next year.
It’s been described by the UN as a ‘once-in-a-century’ event.
Aid groups fear that the humanitarian crisis will only worsen...
The horn of Africa region is often vulnerable to climate change and extreme weather events.
The government and charities are meanwhile still trying to reach those in need.

There has been very little research in minority populations with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL). Dr. Susan Slager and Dr. Esteban Braggio from Mayo Clinic are hoping to help remedy that knowledge gap with a clinical trial specifically for minorities with CLL. They will be looking at the genetics of CLL in African Americans and other minorities. In this interview, Dr. Susan Slager discusses the goals of this research study.
