The former Minister of Information in Zimbabwe, Jonathan Moyo, says the judiciary in that country must not make judgements based on the political climate.

Moyo spoke to SABC News about the continued incarceration of the Member of Parliament, Job Sikhala.

Moyo says the opposition is weak ahead of presidential and parliamentary elections in Zimbabwe in August.

He has also defended the controversial Patriotic Bill that was recently passed by parliament in Zimbabwe.

Opposition parties and human rights activists say the bill is aimed at silencing those who criticised the Zimbabwean government.

The ANC's voter majority nationally and the DA's Majority in the Western Cape are under threat as smaller parties eat into the voter base.
Even in provinces like Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and the Free State, the ruling party is in an uncertain position as its majority is slipping away.
In 2019 the ANC narrowly won Gauteng but this time around the DA is facing prospects of losing its outright majority in the Western Cape.

The Zimbabwean government condemned sabhuku land deals and
started a perplexing campaign to demolish homes in rural areas, all in the name of "maintaining order" and "protecting agricultural land" (yeah, right!).

While sabhuku deals are questionable we believe demolitions are not the only solution.

Zimbabwe's government has instituted several measures it says will increase demand for the local currency and raise its value, as well arrest demand for the U.S. dollar. But as Columbus Mavhunga reports from Harare, economists say the new measures will not work as Zimbabweans have lost faith in the local dollar which continues sliding against the greenback. #zimbabwe #usdollar #voanews

Zimbabwe is to see the formation of yet another political party.
The country's former Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Walter Mzembi has been appointed interim leader of the People's Party. Dr. Mzembi and a number of the former Mugabe allies are now living outside Zimbabwe, having fled the country following the removal of late President Robert Mugabe from power in 2017. So what does this party hope to do and can it make a difference in a country facing enormous challenges?
We are joined via Skye from London by the Party's Secretary-General Lloyd Msipa.
