The political rift between Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, in Nigeria has garnered significant reactions and attention. This internal discord within the ruling political party has raised concerns and discussions within the Nigerian political landscape.

The ANC Caucus in Parliament says it will welcome four new MPs this week.

They include the party's deputy president Paul Mashatile, the second deputy secretary- general Maropene Ramokgopa, former KwaZulu-Natal premier Sihle Zikalala and former Johannesburg mayor Parks Tau. This follows the resignation of four ANC members in the National Assembly.

It is understood Mashatile's swearing-in will pave the way for President Cyril Ramaphosa to include him in the national cabinet.

Meanwhile, Deputy President David Mabuza has confirmed that he has resigned as Deputy President of the country.

Political analyst Doctor Ntsikelelo Breakfast shares more.

At least five countries conducted general or parliamentary elections, some ushering in new faces and changing the course for a fresh political future, while others do not seem to let go of their old guard. Apart from gunning for the top offices, the continent did suffer setbacks as economies took a nosedive because of various factors.

Liberia's electoral regulations require a candidate to obtain over 50% of the total votes to win the presidency.

As a result, the two leading candidates from the first round will face off in a run-off election, that will take place in November. This process allows voters to choose between the top two contenders and ultimately decide the next president of Liberia.

The run-off election is expected to be a closely watched and closely contested affair, as both candidates vie for the support of the electorate to secure a majority of the votes.

Ace Magashule, a former secretary-general of South Africa's ruling party the African National Congress (ANC), has been banished. The NDC allegedly convened to discuss the accusations brought against Magashule, according to the ANC.

After the ANC National Disciplinary Committee (NDC) declared him guilty of violating the party's constitution by refusing to retract and apologise for his decision to suspend party President Cyril Ramaphosa in May 2021, he was expelled from the organisation.

According to sources close to Magashule, he intended to challenge the NDC's conclusions before the ANC's national disciplinary committee of Appeals. He would contend that the NDC never issued a summons to him or otherwise communicated with him to appear before it.
