The video game industry has benefited largely from the extensive acceptance of smart device gaming applications. Over the past five years, there has been a shift from physical distribution to digital distribution in the market, based on demand.

According to available statistics, Africa represents only 1% of the video game market and the continent is yet to gainfully explore this opportunity.

A 2013 Brookings Institution study, revealed that African youth (15-24 years), constitute about 37% of the working-age population. The same age group, however, accounts for about 60% of joblessness on the continent.

With a majority of African countries diversifying from traditional income sources, entrepreneurship is increasingly seen as a key to economic growth. So far, it has yielded significant returns and according to experts, there lies great untapped potential to drive the African continent into its next phase of development.

Many African entrepreneurs, however, face a number of challenges with a lack of access to capital and an enabling environment presenting huge loopholes to the success of their ventures.

Man suspected of vandalizing Polish church on Christmas eve arrested

Workers at the State Information Technology Agency have threatened to march to the office of communications minister Mondli Gungubele as part of their efforts to intensify the nationwide strike action at SITA offices.
The workers, who belong to the Public Servants Association of South Africa which represents the majority of employees at SITA, are on day 2 of their national strike following a deadlock in salary negotiations. Labour unions at the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa have embarked on a fresh round of wage talks with their employer, hoping for a fruitful outcome.
