Tunisia's President Kais Saied has been celebrating his apparent victory in a referendum on a new constitution that gives him almost unlimited powers.
An exit poll indicated more than 90% of those who had voted had supported the president's plan, but turnout was only 27.5%, with main opposition parties boycotting the poll.
President Saied promised that Tunisia would now enter a new phase, after what he describes as a decade of political deadlock, but his opponents will cite the low turnout as denying legitimacy to what they see as a worrying move back towards autocracy.

President Kais Saied's freezing of Parliament had followed mass protests with much of the anger directed at the Ennahdha party for its handling of the economy and a raging pandemic.
Some see President Saied’s decision as a necessary intervention, where Parliament had failed the people.
Others fear it’s an unconstitutional power grab that could lead to a dictatorship - a move that would see the end to the Jasmine revolution that paved the way to a decade of democracy.

Migrants in Tunisia have been attacked after the fatal stabbing of a 41-year-old local man during an altercation with several migrants from sub-Saharan Africa.
Videos of the attack have been widely shared. One shows a masked perpetrator screaming that "black Africans are a threat to us and our women" and then inciting people to assault the migrants.
The Tunisian authorities have responded by forcibly removing more than 100 migrants from the city of Sfax and driving them to the Tunisian-Libyan border.
A further 1,000 have since been removed from the city and taken to both the Libyan and Algerian borders.

It is 50 years since Uganda's former-dictator Idi Amin expelled thousands of members of the Asian community from the country, after accusing them of disloyalty.
They were given just three months to leave, or face being placed in concentration camps.
About 27,000 people left their homes for the UK, many of them were British passport holders.

Freed on bail and facing a charge of treason, Ugandan MP Bobi Wine continues to speak out against what he sees as repressive tactics from the government of President Yoweri Museveni.
Wine and around 30 other opposition figures were arrested last month following a tense by-election campaign event that involved stones being thrown at the president's motorcade. He is currently in the US receiving medical treatment for injuries he says were the result of torture at the hands of military forces during his two-week detention.
In a news conference last week in Washington, DC, Wine told reporters, "It should be noted, that I’m not presenting myself as a victim, because I’m nobody’s victim. I’m a survivor and I would rather represent resilience rather than giving up."
Bobi Wine - also known by his birth name Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu - was arrested on August 13, detained in military barracks and initially charged with illegal weapons possession. Upon his departure from military court on August 23, he was re-arrested and charged with treason.
Since his election into parliament last year, Wine has become a sharp critic of President Yoweri Museveni, who has stayed in power since 1986. As a musician, Bobi Wine's songs have called for freedom against oppression and political change. His rise from poverty to Afropop stardom helped him build a large following among youth, with fans fondly calling him the "ghetto president".
In this episode, The Stream speaks to Bobi Wine about his time in military detention and his political future.
